Last Wednesday, the topping out ceremony was held for the Mercator One project. All project participants enjoyed the bright sunshine and the refreshments and took the opportunity to have closer look at the construction project.

Mercator One is an office and commercial building with six above-ground floors and two basements with underground car park located at the Duisburg main railway station. The Client is DEVARIO represented by SK62. The building is based on a design by Hadi Teherani Architects. IQ Real Estate GmbH is in charge of the project management. Completion of the project is planned for next year.

On 19 and 20 September, a convention celebrating the 10th anniversary of the DVP-Zert® training scheme took place in Berlin. Christina Maaß, shareholder and managing director of IQ Real Estate, together with Sigrid Brell-Cokcan, director of the Chair of Individualized Production in Architecture at RWTH Aachen University, presented a paper exploring “What digitalization means for the construction industry” on the second day.

In their paper, they addressed questions such as “Which disruptive business models will be able to shake up the building sector?” and “What changes will the use of robotics on the construction site bring?

Last Friday, this year’s IQ office outing led us to Essen.
In splendid weather, we began the day with a fascinating guided tour of the Villa Hügel mansion. This was followed by refreshments at Südtiroler Stuben. We then started our bike tour which led us to the Baldeneysee canoe pier. There we boarded seven canoes and paddled under the clear blue sky to “Am Kattenturm”.
We finished the day with interesting conversations in the ANGE D’OR restaurant where we enjoyed the exquisite food and the impressive ambience.

On 12 July 2019, IQ Real Estate held its second Future Conference in Düsseldorf.  After hearing papers presented by colleagues, board members and external experts, we addressed issues from the day-to-day project work. Also the expectations of the employees towards the employer and the workplace of the future were discussed in detail, and possible solutions were elaborated in groups.

The day ended quite relaxed with a joint dinner at the Wilma Wunder restaurant.
