On 21 December 2021, the first spadefuls of earth were turned for the BOB construction project on Willy-Brandt-Platz in Krefeld.

In view of the perfect sunny albeit chilly weather, all participants truly enjoyed sharing this milestone.

Thanks to the great support by the authorities of the City of Krefeld and the highly productive cooperation of all parties, it was possible to develop the project to this point in just two years.

The spades (or rather the shovels) were energetically applied by (from left to right on the photo):

Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, the groundbreaking was attended by a limited number of persons only and was not followed by a celebration.

On 2 December 2021, we celebrated the opening of the Schlösser Areal I residential quarter together with Dusseldorf’s Lord Mayor Stephan Keller, the partners of the association of housing cooperatives, and other guests.

After a construction period of about two years, the first tenants are moving into the 134 flats that have been created on the former site of the Schlösser brewery and the abattoir in the Dusseldorf borough of Derendorf.

Early 2023, another 81 dwelling units will be constructed on the Schlösser Areal II site in the immediate vicinity of Schlösser Areal I.

On 27 November 2007, Thomas Damrosch together with two other managing directors founded IQ Real Estate GmbH.

After serving more than thirteen years as shareholder and managing director, Thomas Damrosch took his well-deserved retirement at the end of September 2021.

We thank Mr Damrosch for his valuable support and his professional and social commitment, and wish him all the best for his new stage of life.

Together with numerous guests from the worlds of business, politics and the media, Koelnmesse celebrated an event of symbolic importance on 24 August 2021: the laying of the foundation stone for the new trade fair, conference and event location Confex® and the inauguration of the new Hall 1 represent the future of Koelnmesse as well as of the trade fair and conference location in which Koelnmesse, in the words of CEO Gerald Böse, wants to “prove itself as an event location and emerge even stronger from the turmoil of the past months”. “With Confex® we are setting a foundation stone for Cologne as a convention venue in a completely new dimension”, emphasized Cologne’s mayor Henriette Reker.

“The laying of the foundation stone for Confex® and the completion of the new Hall 1 are both really good news for Cologne as a business location and fill me with optimism,” said Reker. “With its structural and technical qualities, the Confex® will be a blueprint for trade fair formats in the post-COVID era and give us a decisive advantage for positioning ourselves in the future trade fair world,” Böse added.
